Getting Started with Magfed

So there are a lot of questions out there about getting started in Magfed (or paintball in general) and for every question there’s about 10 answers. Best gun, mags, barrel, etc, as well as the “where to play” questions. Hopefully, I’ll be able to help you get started with this article, but please feel free to post question in the comments section below if you have any.

For the first part of this series, I want to talk about getting into the game or just finding a place to play. Future installments will discuss guns, gear and getting more involved.
So to get started, the first thing people usually want to try a game before jumping into buying a ton of gear for hobby they might not event like. The BEST place to start looking would be on Facebook. If you are looking for a very dedicated group of enthusiasts, Mag-Fed Paintball (just type it into the FB search bar) is a great place to start. MOST of your Magfed players are on that site and love to discuss everything from markers to games. New products get announced on there as well, so it is a fantastic resource. Another resource at your disposal is the “events” tab on this very site. As the site grows, that section will be used more and more by ANYONE hosting a scenario or Magfed event. That page contains all the information for the event and sometimes includes the registration links if the promotor put it there. Also, some of those events will have our MCS ambassadors on site to loan out some guns and gear for you to try out.

Another thing that you can do is talk to your local field and see if there are any other Magfed players that play there. Typically you won't find them on the speedball arenas, but scenario fields and "woods ball" fields will be their usual hang out. Alternatively, you can contact MCS about sending out one of our sponsored Ambassadors for a game or two. They're in almost all 50 states and their entire existence centers around getting new players into the sport.

I hope you enjoyed the article and next week, we will talk about everyone's favorite piece of equipment.....markers
